This annual report describes how USAID programs invested $28,450,000 to reduce threats to biological diversity and promote sustainable development in the Amazon region during Fiscal Year 2007 (FY 2007), which spans October 1, 2006 – September 30, 2007.
This report first presents the regional Initiative for Conservation in the Andean Amazon (ICAA), which supports activities in the Amazon regions of Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia. This is followed by overviews of each of the Agency’s bilateral programs for biodiversity conservation in the Amazon. Bilateral programs are national-level programs that are funded and managed by a USAID Mission or field office in a particular country. The report concludes with examples of the value-added conservation impacts from USAID Mission and regional programs working together on basin-wide conservation challenges and opportunities.
