Coca Codo Hydroelectric Project - Sinclair
Why is this a priority project for ICAA?
The mega project will be built on ancestral lands belonging to indigenous Cofán people, where there was a push for ecotourism to take full advantage of the scenic beauty that is offered by Cascada de San Rafael. GTI-ICAA considers it necessary to know the project in order to contribute appropriate environmental standards in line with the plan of Cofán village life and sustainable development in the region.

The area where the plant will be located is 390 square kilometers, comprising part of the plateau to the right of the Coca River, between El Salado and site Codo Sinclair. It goes into Simón Bolívar, Guangzhou Gonzalo Pizarro, Sucumbios Province, Ecuador.
Project purpose
The purpose is to construct and operate a hydroelectric power plant at an installed power of 1,500 megawatts (MW).
