The Madre de Dios, Peru and Pando, Bolivia regions sustain a high level of biodiversity and wealth of natural resources including protected areas such as Manu and Bahuaja Sonene National Parks in Peru and the Boiivian Manuripi Reserve and the Yaminahua Machineri indigenous territories of great importance for binational conservation and sustainable development. The M-P consortia is lead by the University of Florida (UF) with collaboration from Herencia and the University of the Amazon in Pando (UAP) in Bolivia and the National University of the Amazon in Madre de Dios (UNAMAD), the Regional Government of Madre de Dios and the Special Project Madre de Dios (PEMD – GOREMAD) and the Woods Hole Research Center (WHRC).
