Indigenous Landscapes Fact Sheet

The Indigenous Landscapes consortia was designed specifically to incorporate the indigenous communities and organizations in the decision-making process and policies related to the distribution and access to resources, livelihoods, and economic and political changes in the Amazonia Andean regions of Ecuador and Peru.  By strengthening administrative and institutional capacities, the indigenous organizations will be able to influence public policy for sustainable development and resource management.  390 indigenous  communities occupy more than 10 million km2 of ancestral territory in the Amazon where they have successfully managed forests and natural resources using traditional practices.  The consortia is led by The Nature Conservancy (TNC) with collaboration from the Institute of Common Good (IBC), and the Fundación para la Sobrevivencia del Pueblo Cofán.
